Does the Pure Beauty Offer JUVÉDERM®?
Absolutely! We carry the full JUVÉDERM® family of fillers, including VOLUMA® XC.
What are dermal fillers?
Injectable dermal fillers replenish volume lost during the aging process. JUVÉDERM®, one of the most popular products on the market, is a soft gel substance made from stabilized, non-animal hyaluronic acid. This product closely resembles the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in the body, so it is generally well accepted.
How do they work?
JUVÉDERM® and other related products replace the collagen and fat we lose as part of the aging process. As a result, they replenish volume, increase hydration, and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
What are the best treatment areas?
We often recommend JUVÉDERM® for our patients who want to smooth lines and creases of the lower face. These include marionette lines around the mouth, nasolabial lines between the nose and mouth, and smile lines at the corner of the mouth and on the chin.
For enhancing or "plumping" the lips, which naturally grow thinner and smaller with age, we recommend dermal fillers for lip injections. For our patients who also complain of visible lip lines, these products work well to fill the lip border and reduce the appearance of those lines.
Finally, we recommend one of the newest products on the market, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC, for our patients ages 21 and older who want to replenish volume in the cheek area.
Can I have more than one area treated at a time?
Yes, we frequently administer JUVÉDERM® and other dermal fillers to one or more treatment area at a time.
How do you administer JUVÉDERM® and lip injections?
JUVÉDERM® and other dermal fillers are gently injected with a very fine needle into specific areas of your face to fill visible lines or add volume. Different areas may need different types of fillers. For each injection, the exact depth and quantity depend on the area being treated, and these factors vary from person to person. Our primary goal for you is natural, youthful, beautiful results.
How long do appointments take, and is there any downtime?
The actual procedure for JUVÉDERM® dermal fillers or lip injections requires only about 10 to 30 minutes, with little to no recovery time, so it is an ideal lunchtime procedure for our patients.
How soon will I see results, and how long will they last?
The results from dermal fillers and JUVÉDERM® lip injections are immediately visible. Our patients report results that last an average of 12 to 24 months, depending on the product used and the area treated.
In preparing for an important event, how far out should I schedule my lip injections or JUVÉDERM® treatments at Pure Beauty?
To ensure that any possible bruising or swelling have time to resolve, you should schedule your appointment 2 weeks before your event.
Do the injections hurt?
Some people may experience mild discomfort from injections of dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM®. We can apply a local anesthetic cream, if needed, for a more comfortable treatment experience. Whenever fluid is injected under the skin, nerves can react, and that response varies from person to person.
Because the lips are extremely sensitive to pain, we typically recommend a local anesthetic prior to lip injections at our office. Some dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® contain lidocaine for a more comfortable experience.
Do these products have any side effects?
Occasionally, some of our patients experience localized pain, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, or bruising at or near the injection site. These typically resolve within 2 to 12 days.
What are the risks? Is it safe?
JUVÉDERM® and dermal fillers in general are very safe when injected by an experienced clinician. Infection at the injection site is always a risk, but we take extra precaution to maintain a sterile environment to prevent infection. During your consultation for JUVÉDERM®, lip injections, or other dermal fillers, our team will explain in detail the potential risks and side effects.
At what age can someone begin using fillers?
Adults of any age who are concerned with wrinkles, creases, or deep lines can use most products currently available. The FDA has approved deep-injection products such as JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC for use in people 21 and older.
What is the difference between dermal fillers and BOTOX?
Dermal fillers like JUVÉDERM® XC fill in existing wrinkles, restoring volume and leading to a smoother surface appearance. Lip injections plump the lip area and fill vertical lines around the mouth. BOTOX® Cosmetic, on the other hand, relaxes facial muscles to keep them from contracting and creating wrinkles. Both types of treatments complement each other nicely, creating a "liquid facelift."
Consultations are required for dermal fillers before you can book the service. They will not be performed on the same day as your consultation.
